“This too shall pass” and other stories of survival

Maintaining some semblance of my regular routine has been so important for me at this
time. Waking up at the same time every day, getting in at least 30 minutes of exercise, and
hopping the shower before getting stuck into my work for the day. Fortunately, my work
has not slowed down as the pandemic has picked up by virtue of the type of work I do.
An appreciated consequence of the lockdown has been that I have had to be more
deliberate in reaching out to my friends and family. I can admit that while other people have
been reeling about being away from social interaction, I have reveled in it.
I am learning now more than ever that physical distance does not mean social and
emotional distance. I have found so much light in those daily conversations.
Most importantly I have been deliberate about being kinder to myself and others. I am
learning that even on days when I cannot deliver on all the things I had planned to do; I
must remain my own soft place to land. If you take nothing else from this, I hope you will
take this one to heart.
