How to plan your 2020 vacation leave days properly this year

happy Monday 17th February 2020

I am currently laying on my side, well-fed, daydreaming and planning my next adventure to Tanzania in April, which will be during their rainy season and the best time for me to take leave from work. (wish me luck). I am a little nervous as I have never been away from home over Easter, but I am glad to be leaving yet another comfort zone because of the travel bug.

While I was creating the itinerary, I had a mini panic attack about the number of days I thought I needed off work. After reading up on how other people maximize their annual leave, I began to create a leave calendar as that put things into perspective for me and made me feel less guilty for wanting to take leave at work to do what I love.

Upon doing more extensive research, I realized that there are many ways to optimize leave days and get more out of public holidays as a South African citizen who loves to travel. The first step is to plan plan plan and request your leave days well in advance, and the only way to prepare is to know when each holiday falls. The best thing I got out of planning is cheaper flights and peace of mind. See table below to start planning your 2020.
