Kim Bediako: Ghanian / South African stunner

Kim Bediako: Ghanian / South African stunner

My favorite hairstyle as well as go to hairstyle when I don’t have time to get ready is the “wash and go” hairstyle, says Kimberly Bediako our friend who is a fashion designer and Creator of Nkyimu.co.za.

The main reason why I love it so much is because it’s so quick and easy to achieve. The texture of my natural hair is very thick and curly and it requires a lot of moisture so I tend to lean towards hair products that have more of a gel and mousse consistency. The products I use to achieve my wash and go hairstyle are water and a few products from the Aunt Jackie’s hair range. Their products are perfect for my hair type and the result usually comes out better than expected. All products can be purchased from Clicks and or Dischem stores.

Below are the steps I use for my wash and go hairstyle, these steps ensure that my curls and coils remain curly  for as long as possible.

Step 1: Completely wet my hair whilst in the shower.

Step 2: Then shake my head to remove the excess water. The reason why I don’t towel dry my hair is to ensure that my curls don’t get frizzy and undefined.

Step 3: Apply either Aunt Jackie’s Curl La La Defining Curl Custard or Aunt Jackie’s Don’t Shrink Flaxseed Elongating Curl Gel (Pictured above). There are many ways to apply these products but I use the praying hand method to ensure that my curls are defined and not frizzy.

Note: If you decide to use the flaxseed curling gel, make sure your hair is clean with no other products. It tends to leave white spots in hair I applied while having an oil based product in my hair (coconut oil or olive oil).

Step 4: I use a a wide tooth comb just to even out my hair, but not combing through the curls.

My curls last the entire day and depending on how much product I use I always just spray my hair either with water or the Auntie Jackie’s Half and Half hydrating silkening hair milk the following day.
